At extremes, poverty and oppression succumbs violence! Violence rises from the oppressed. When the silence is suppressed to a further level, violence gets lighted! That's the underlying truth behind all the violent revolts the modern world has ever seen. Violence begins when the depressed and the ignored reaches at that stage where they have got nothing to lose. At that point, the energy graph of a person reaches zero and starts rising into the negative quadrant. Philosophically, this film of Todd Philips travels through
that quadrant. Glad to see those introspective visions from the Hollywood which reminds of the Chaplin's age. Probably, it can also be viewed as a voice against the far right (capitalist) moving society of the west. The colors and background elements are being used wisely to mark strong politics of the fictional city - 'Gotham'.
JOKER is nothing but purely an out and out Joaquin Phoenix show! In this film, all the characters are addreseed and revealed through Joker (Arthur). It's a psychological character analysis. Joker is nothing but a personified symbol of an ignored philosophical, political and social structure. Anyone who had been a victim of any of the above mentioned insulting exclusions can easily relate himself/herself with the Joker. There's a waiting violence, lurking in the corner of the minds of an ignored person. Joker is violent but inhibits humanity within. 'Joker' is silent but loudly asks the world to hear the voice of the unheard. When the Joker laughs, the audience is disturbed. When the joker behaves normal, the audience is relieved! Such a contrasting method of storytelling. A perceptional spin off, a genuine tribute to Heath Ledger's Joker.
